Mosquitoes may hate pennyroyal but butterflies love it! Planting some around your home will help deter the bugs you hate and attract the ones you love. They make a beautiful groundcover as well.

4. Basil

You may already keep fresh basil planted. If you do, then it not only provides a fresh taste to your cooking but it also helps keep bugs away. There are different varieties of basil and they’re all good, so whichever is your favorite, be sure to keep plenty of it planted. Some people swear that lemon basil or cinnamon basil works best for bugs.
