Citronella is well known for it repellent qualities. Many people keep citronella candles around for that purpose so adding a few plants near your patio will enhance that effect. It’s a beautiful plant and even does well in a hanging basket if kept trimmed. They do tend to grow large and bush out so give them plenty of space.

Geraniums are gorgeous in a hanging basket. As the plant grows, the flowers hang down over the side of the pot. Several hanging baskets of this natural mosquito repellent plant will be a nice addition to your arsenal of repellent plants.

8. Lemon Balm

Lemon balm is a type of mint. Mints are easy plants to grow and given space and water, they really flourish. The leaves make a great tea, just like other members of the mint family. They will tend to take over their space so if you want to contain it, planting it in a pot might be a good choice.
