7 Canopy Ideas for Creating Shade

Spread the love

Now that the weather is getting warmer, most people love to spend time outdoors relaxing, working, entertaining, or just hanging out; but being in the sun with no shade can be a real buzz kill. There are many different ways to put up a canopy, and almost all of these are ones that you can do as a DIY project.

A canopy is a great option if you don’t want a permanent structure, and if done right, it can add beauty and appeal to your yard. It creates it’s own “place”, without having to have walls. You’ll find that it calls out to you to come sit and relax!

For a very basic canopy you can just use a drop cloth, a large sheet, a tapestry, or a bedspread, like you see in the picture below. You’ll need to buy supplies to suspend it, and that will depend on what you are suspending it from. It can be hung from poles (most are), or use an existing wall, roof, or other permanent fixture.
