A Cool Way To Upholster Your Box Spring Mattress DIY

Spread the love

Now that you made your own upholstered headboard for your bed, it’s time to work on the box spring.  It bothers me when I put clean sheet on the bed the skirt gets a bit mussed.  This DIY project is a great clean look.  You may be able to use the bed skirt you have for this project if you prefer not to buy fabric.  Thanks to This Old House for the great idea.

You can retire that fussy bedskirt with this tidy technique for “upholstering” a box spring or a bed foundation. Just gather up your supplies, and, if your box spring doesn’t have a wood frame on top, upholstery twist pins (available at fabric stores).

Step 1: Wrap The Corners

Cut four pieces of fabric that are about 1 foot square, and use them to wrap the corners of the box, as shown below. Staple or pin the fabric to the box, top and bottom.
