A Lovely Dessert Stand With A Dome DIY

I love this clever and unique DIY project.  This dessert stand is a fantastic way to serve your tasty treat.  It can be used for other food items as well.  Go to your local thrift store and get creative.  Each stand will be unique.  Thanks to Plum Doodle for the great entertaining idea.

One of the first projects I shared on Plum Doodles was DIY Cupcake Stands– remember those? I’ve found that people prefer to buy them with covers. The small dessert stands can be topped with a cheese dome. However, the ones made from dinner plates need something larger. Cake domes are easy enough to find, but I wanted something less expensive.

Can you guess what it is? Yep, a cover from a light fixture. I’ve made cloches from candle sconces, so why not dessert domes from a light fixture? I recently saw a gorgeous cloche made from a light fixture, by Jeanette from Creating a Life.

Supplies and directions may vary depending on the type of cover and knob you use.
