Colorful Braided Rug from Upcycled T-Shirts

Spread the love

1- Fold the end over slightly and cut a small notch. Do the same on the end of the new strip you’ll be attaching.

2- Put the new strip on top of the old one so that the holes match.

3- Pull the new strip behind and up through the holes, pulling tight as you do.

4- Continue braiding.

As you get close to the size you want your rug to be, it’s a good idea to cut the strips narrower and narrower so that they taper into the rug.

When finished, tie all 3 strips together and cut them off evenly. Leave a little extra so you can push it into the rug, weaving it in through some of the braiding on the inside of the rug to hide the ends.

Put your new rug where you can show it off!
