[Video] How to Make a Log Lounge Chair

Spread the love

What a way to make good use of something you would normally either burn or throw away! Next time you see someone with logs after having their trees trimmed, grab them. You can also contact a tree service who would probably be glad to give some to you. These logs are birch and were obtained from a landscaping company that had been hired to clear someone’s land.

Choose logs between 3″ – 6″ in diameter as anything larger will be hard to drill through, and will weigh considerably more. The only hardware needed are zinc-coated lag screws, and brackets to be used for support. Ben Uyeda from HomeMade Modern made this lounger and he posted his email on the site for anyone who who wants to get a PDF of the template he used.

This lounge chair looks rather comfortable shape-wise, but I think I would find a pretty cushion or throw to put on it to make it a little softer.

Find Ben’s tutorial on HomeMade Modern and here is a video he made as well.
